Laura Schön joined the Media | Transformation department in 2024 as a research fellow. She is acting pedagogical head of the Institute’s digital lab ‘The Basement’, which focuses on the interface between research and educational practice and enables digital practices to be analysed and innovative didactic approaches to be tested.
She gained her bachelor’s degree in educational science from Bielefeld University, where she also completed her master’s degree in educational science with a focus on continuing education and media pedagogy. Her master’s dissertation addressed the advancement of media literacy within families and particularly examined generational aspects of media literacy.
She has since worked on a project that used gaming to prepare young people for future careers, and created a media concept for a Montessori school where she also worked as a media educator.
