We live in a world in which our lives are shaped by hybrid clusters of analogue and digital technology and practices. The resulting possibilities for social participation in education and urban life are the subject of the Leibniz ScienceCampus – postdigital participation – Braunschweig, established in 2019 by the Leibniz Institute for Educational Media | Georg Eckert Institute (GEI) and five partner organisations. The focus is on the development of digitally supported forms of participation and on the public discourse regarding (post)digitality and participation. Social living labs will be used to conduct research involving relevant user groups in a variety of disciplines: exploring education, inclusion, mobility, urban planning, and reusing and recycling materials. A group of early career scholars at the GEI will collaborate in the investigation and design of postdigital media constellations in school education.
