Publications

This series publishes outstanding work from the field of educational media research. The series is published by V&R unipress, Göttingen.

The Series 'Eckert. Expertise' was launched in 2012 to provide a channel for the publication of expert opinions, recommendations and other studies relevant to practice and based in research.

The Journal of Educational Media, Memory and Society (JEMMS) is the Institute’s journal, which is published by Berghahn Journals, Oxford/New York. It provides a forum for findings from educational media research and also addresses broader cultural studies questions.

The series aims to explore textbooks and other educational media as sites of cultural contestation and socio-political forces.

The 'Eckert. Beiträge' series appeared exclusively online from 2009 to 2024 and presented findings from educational media research. Each paper was peer-reviewed by two independent academics.

'Eckert. Dossiers' is an online series that publishes conference papers, working papers and interim results with a short turnaround time yet still with editorial quality control. Sonstige Studien (Other studies) includes older series ('Eckert. Working Papers' und 'Eckert. Analysen') as well as open access articles by the GEI that have not been published in other GEI publications.

The annual report provides an overview of the work of the Institute each year.

Eckert. Bulletin was a brochure published annually until 2016 that brought the work of the Institute to an academic audience as well as the wider public.
