Project members from Braunschweig, Krakow and Vilnius will meet in Braunschweig at a concluding conference for a time of analysis and for the documentation of findings.

The conference goal is to assemble informative texts, selected sources (such as journal entries, newspaper reports, maps, images, etc.) and their didactical analysis into the form of topics and to merge them into a collective product, which will be publicly available by the end of the year as the website www.urban-kaleidoscope.eu (as well as through the internet platform Edumeres).

Additionally, a joint handbook of corresponding instructional concepts should also be provided (as a didactic framework), for which we will have an appropriate subject expert at our disposal. In this context, the materials generated through the project will also be tested and correspondingly evaluated.

The cultural program for conference guests consists of an intensive acquaintance with the Georg Eckert Institute library, which serves as the Council of Europe’s textbook library, excursions to the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Goslar and the university city of Göttingen and sight seeing in the “Almost Capital of Culture,” Braunschweig, and Berlin on their return trips home.

In addition, a feasibility study for the “cities approach” will be developed, which can present a common approach to European history and which would thereby produce a new version of “European textbook“ that respects various memory cultures considerably more.
