Catrin Schoneville

She joined the Georg Eckert Institute as press and public relations officer in November 2014.

She studied public relations and advertising and has worked in diverse advertising and public relations agencies as well as international companies and organisations. This has equipped her with a comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of press and public relations work. She has worked as a freelance journalist, PR consultant, press officer, spokesperson and head of communication.

From 2008 to 2014 she was the Head of Communication and spokesperson for Wikimedia Deutschland e.V., the non-profit organisation behind Wikipedia Foundation. Her key responsibilities focused on open access to knowledge, open educational resources (OER) as well as topics involving education and net politics. She published a book in 2011, produced in collaboration with the Wikipedia volunteer community “Alles über Wikipedia und die Menschen hinter der größten Enzyklopädie der Welt” (Everything you need to know about Wikipedia and the people behind the world’s biggest encyclopaedia).
